OUR STORY

Our Little Appalachia Homestead

Almost heaven.  The song is as true as the people.  Being a native of WV, we searched for a farm to call our own.  In 2016 we found and purchased what would now be known as Heathen Holler Farm. With its struggling soil and rocky terrain, we knew it would be a challenging adventure but one we thought we could task.  With poor grazing land and an abundance of brush and trees, a friend steered us toward the Scottish Highland breed as they are excellent foragers.

We purchased Wallace (Wally) as our first herd bull and instantly fell in love with the breed.  With their calm demeanor and robust spirit, they became the easy choice for us.   While they get supplemented with grain and hay, they thrive on almost anything they come across.

And the chickens, well, that's just the icing on the cake.
